Welcome to the International Symposium “Family Language Policies and the Activation of Minority Language Use in Childhood, Adolescence, and Youth” (ACTIVAMIN)

On July 6 and 7, 2026, the Campus Catalunya of Rovira i Virgili University in Tarragona will host an academic event dedicated to studying the mechanisms of language maintenance and revitalization in contexts of linguistic minoritization.

The symposium aims to foster an international dialogue on:

  • Family Language Policy in territorial minority language contexts
  • Creating safe spaces for activating the use of territorial minority languages among children, adolescents, and young people
  • Youth agency and empowerment in creating spaces for socialization in territorial minority languages
