The Congress of Palaeoecology and Cultural Evolution Studies (CEPEC 2025) will take place from October 22 to 24, 2025, at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) and the Institut Català de Paleoecologia Humana i Evolució Social (IPHES) in Tarragona. This event is designed by students and for students, with the aim of fostering academic debate in a welcoming environment, where early-career researchers can present their work and establish connections with other professionals in the field.

The conference focuses on interdisciplinarity in prehistoric archaeology, offering sessions that combine different areas of study to encourage new perspectives and synergies. Presentations will be organized into five thematic sessions covering topics such as biomarkers and archaeobotany, paleoanthropology and primatology, experimental archaeology and taphonomy, fauna and lithics, as well as geoarchaeology and spatial analyses. In addition to the traditional sessions, there will be a dedicated space for poster presentations, allowing participants to showcase and discuss their research in a more interactive format.

To provide valuable tools for young researchers, CEPEC 2025 will include a masterclass on academic career paths, offering insights into the different stages of the research profession. Complementing this initiative, there will be a roundtable discussion where researchers at various career levels will share their experiences and professional journeys, providing a broad perspective on the multiple opportunities within this field.

The conference will also feature a Pint of Science session, a science communication event in a relaxed setting where invited researchers will present their studies in an informal space, fostering dialogue with attendees.

With Tarragona as its backdrop, a city of great historical heritage, and the support of a leading research center like IPHES, CEPEC 2025 represents an unique opportunity for those looking to actively engage in the research community in paleoecology and cultural evolution. We look forward to welcoming you to share knowledge, build new collaborations, and make this conference an enriching experience for all participants!
